Andrew’s research interests focus on increasing the operational efficiency of caring for hospitalized patients with the goal of optimizing the utilization of limited healthcare resources. He is also developing innovative hospitalist staffing models to facilitate increases coordination of care between inpatient and outpatient settings. He received his BA from Yale University; his MD and his MBA from the University of Chicago; and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Rush University Medical Center. Originally Andrew is from Wellesley, Massachusetts, and in the summer, he loves to sail on Lake Michigan.

Sarah sees patients with delays and disabilities. Her mixed methods approach focuses on studying trends and improving health systems to support families of children with medical complexity and disabilities, especially those with technology dependency. She is interested in creating efficient and effective healthcare service models to minimize hospitalizations, provide support for families, and to enable children with severe disabilities to reach their developmental potentials. She received her MD and MPH from the University of Chicago. Her clinical training includes a pediatric residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital/Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, and fellowship training in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of Chicago.

Veena is a Postdoctoral Fellow affiliated with the Department of Medicine. Her current research interests include health policy; health sector governance; medical specialization; human resources for health; and systems research in low– and middle-income countries, particularly India.; and global health. She completed her PhD as Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and her MPH at Columbia University. Veena’s hometowns include Chennai, India, and Chicago, Illinois. She is a mom to two children and loves to bake.

Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Biology at Washington University in St. Louis, her MD at New York Medical College, her residency in Internal Medicine at Brown University, and her MPH at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on disparities in chronic disease management, with a special interest in race, place, and poverty. Her experience participating in community-based strategies to improve chronic disease have led to a vested interest in addressing the social determinants of health and a commitment to eradicating health disparities. Elizabeth is currently examining the relationships between race, poverty, and access to healthcare in adults with chronic disease, and the intersection between community violence and chronic disease. She is also applying geospatial analytical tools to bridge the worlds of violence epidemiology and health.
